“It is unfortunate what is going on. It has affected so many lives. Some that I know of personally, others that you hear of, all people from different walks of life, irrelevant of where they are or who they are, it has affected everybody equally. Both physically and mentally. I have seen how it has impacted individuals emotionally and mentally. Some have broken down, and their fight or flight mechanisms have kicked in. In no other time in my career have I had the challenge of having to look at people in their eyes, see their fear, and even though I may be fearful, have to calm them down and help them try to look at the reality of the situation and not buy into the "sensationalization" of the situation by either media or, or the creations in their minds of what the situation really means. On the other hand, you also see how some people rise up. You've seen people that attach a different meaning to everything that's going on to all the chaos, and they rise up to help this team and meet the occasion, which is helping our city and helping those first responders, which we are all so proud of. They are helping those in need, you know, from the hospitals to the residential building and even the commercial buildings. I am so proud of every single one of those individuals on our team that has stepped up. I am proud of even those that are fearful and would maybe rather stay home, but because they feel a sense of duty, they allow that sense of responsibility to help them through the fear. They show up, and they allow us to serve this community.”
